To plan the perfect wedding, you need to surround yourself with the perfect team of suppliers.

Your chosen wedding suppliers will play a pivotal role in your day, so it’s important to do your research and choose the right people for the job. Particularly when it comes to the very person who will actually be making your marriage official: your wedding celebrant!

Choosing a wedding celebrant is an extremely personal decision. This is the person that will be standing alongside you at your wedding ceremony, during the most intimate, nerve-wracking and exciting moments of the day.

The perfect celebrant will be able to communicate well with your guests and set the right ambience for your ceremony, while also helping to keep you cool under pressure.

Not only should your wedding celebrant be there to support and celebrate with you, there are also many hours of behind-the-scenes planning and paperwork involved before the ceremony. This means your chosen celebrant will need to be highly organised, confident, knowledgeable and detail-oriented.

That’s a lot of boxes to tick, so it’s important to do your research upfront to find the best celebrant for your own special day! But with so many different options out there when it comes to wedding celebrants, where do you even begin with choosing your own?

We’ve compiled some helpful tips and insight below, including a checklist of must-ask questions. This should help you narrow down your search for the perfect celebrant!

To make your job easier we have also answered the questions for you in regard to us!

Are you available on my wedding date?

(We would love to be, but let us check!)

What are your fees and what does this include?

(Love Me Do Weddings have clear packages that you can choose from depending on your budget and your requirements.)

Are there any additional costs to be aware of?

(There will be no additional costs after we have agreed on what it is you require of us.)

Are you officially registered and qualified?

Yes! Registered, qualified and passionate about being the best!)

What kind of paperwork do you require from us, eg. birth certificates, ID?

(This information will vary from couple to couple but don’t worry, you will have the time to gather this together and we will help you with all of the legal requirements. This is what we do!)

What is your process when it comes to writing the ceremony? Is it collaborative with us or do you work from a standard template?

(We want to make your day exactly the way you want it to be. We will work collaboratively with you and give you advice and tips to make your ceremony perfect for you. We will make sure that all of the legal requirements are included so that this is stress free for you.)

Can we read over the ceremony before the day?

(You will have a copy of your ceremony, that we have collaboratively written, in plenty of time before your big day. This will give you the chance to read it through, practice all of your parts and review anything that you would like to change. We will sign off on what you are happy with and this is what you will be hearing during your ceremony, Guaranteed!)

How will you personalise our ceremony to reflect us as a couple?

Part of being a great celebrant is the ability to sit down with a couple and talk to them! During these conversations we will discuss the really important things that make your relationship unique and special. It is this information that will form the core of the words that will be spoken on the day. We will always be there to give you advice and tips on how to put your thoughts on paper but the day and the words will be yours.)

What do you want to know about us as a couple?

(The where you met, the uniqueness of your love and your story and what you would like everyone on your special day to see and hear about you! We want to make this a personal story about the two of you.)

Do you have a PA system and microphone?

(For us this is of paramount importance. There is nothing worse than bad sound and your guests not being able to hear what is going on. They are there as witnesses to your wedding and the sound quality is an important aspect in facilitating this. We only use the best Bose sound systems and high-quality radio microphones.)

Do you have a signing table and signing chairs?

(This comes standard as part of “Love Me Do” packages.)

Do you have insurance?

Do you require a ceremony rehearsal?

(A ceremony rehearsal is always a good idea. It provides piece of mind for all involved and makes sure that there are no unnecessary surprises on the day.)

What will your role be on the day?

(Consider us to like the conductor of the wedding orchestra. We will do whatever it takes to make the ceremony run smoothly. We will obviously work with all of the other suppliers there and make sure that you as the most important people on the day, are happy and enjoying the moment!)

What happens if you are unwell or there is an emergency on the day? Do you have a backup celebrant and how will this work?

(One of the advantages of choosing “Love Me Do” is that we work together. Our Celebrants are there to help each other and are always of the highest quality. If we ever have an emergency on the day of your wedding we will use our experienced network of contacts to make sure that your ceremony goes as planned. We would never let you down for such an important occasion.)

Can you offer assistance with writing our wedding vows?

(Yes. That is why we listen to what you say and can then assist in putting your words of love in writing. This is always a pure joy to do.)

How well do you deal with any unexpected problems on the day?

(With years of wedding experience behind us, and the ability to call on the resources of our team,  we will always find a way to overcome these problems that inevitably will occur in life. We take a deep breath, we smile and we get on with it!)

Do you take more than one ceremony booking per day? What does this mean for us if our schedule is running behind?

(We will always leave enough time to compensate for the unexpected schedule changes that can occur. If we do have more than one booking for a day then we would never put a wedding at risk. This makes it stress free for both the couple and for us!)

What do you love the most about being a celebrant?

(We love being the facilitator of creating magical, loving and special ceremonies. It is always a privilege that we never forget to be allowed to be part of a couple’s commitment to each other. We believe that we do it the best and always strive to deliver what we promise.)

It can seem like a daunting decision at first, but just keep the above tips in mind and you’ll know exactly where to look and what to ask in order to find the perfect celebrant for your requirements. Our number one rule: follow your instinct. If it feels right, it probably is!
